AKILIMO has partnered with VIAMO to offer agronomy advice on VIAMO’s popular 421 service.

Through the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) channel, the advisory messages are available even to anyone, including cassava growers with limited literacy or using only basic phones.

To obtain customized fertilizer advice, users are requested to provide the state in which they are located, the month in which they plant to plant, and the yield they currently obtain in their cassava farm.

They will receive recommended application rates of urea and NPK 15:15:15 fertilizer for their farm. Optionally, they can perform a cost-benefit analysis and confirm profitability using fertilizer and cassava root prices in their locality.
