(Photo: Grace Mahende)<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The IITA-ACAI project is in the harvest season for the 2016 cassava trials across several sites in both Nigeria and Tanzania.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-735 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/acai-project.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Mr.-and-Mrs.-Acha-1-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Zanzibar, Dr Khatib Haji from ZARI, Pemba led his team in harvesting on station trials at Matangatuani for potatoes from Cassava inter-cropped with Sweet potatoes as well as on farm trials in Junguni, Madamwa, Kanyikani and Mbuzini-Miyapi on Pemba Island. According to Dr Khatib, the yield variation from different trials promising for generating reliable data in the analysis.<\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 617px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-201 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/develop.acai-project.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Sweet-Potatoes.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"607\" height=\"720\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sweet potato harvested from a 0WAP trial in Matangatuani ZARI research in Pemba, Zanzibar (Photo:Khatib Haji \u2013 ZARI)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/bulletin.iita.org\/index.php\/2017\/09\/17\/acai-harvests-cassava-intercropped-sweet-potato-trials\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CIS trials harvest in Zanzibar<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> kicked off late August at Kizimbani on station trials in Unguja and Matangatwani on station trials in Pemba.<\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 170px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-202 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/develop.acai-project.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Khatib-Haji.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"160\" height=\"160\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">\u201cWe are expecting very good data from the analyses after what we have seen so far from the harvests here on the Island in terms of distinction in yield from different treatments.\u201d Dr Khatib Haji<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the south East of Nigeria, NRCRI in collaboration with SG2000\u00a0 carried out harvests in 6 clusters of Benue State; Otukpo, Okpokwu, Katsina Ala, Buruku, Kwande and Gwer East. (Photo: Innocent Onyekere)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the Mkuranga cluster of Tanzania, the harvest from Nutrient omissions trials bore testament to this assumption.
