{"id":2876,"date":"2020-05-12T13:36:24","date_gmt":"2020-05-12T10:36:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/acai-project.org\/?p=1216"},"modified":"2020-05-12T13:36:24","modified_gmt":"2020-05-12T10:36:24","slug":"yara-fertilizer-tanzania-and-kilimo-joint-in-new-collaboration-under-acai-to-bring-new-partners-to-the-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/akilimo.org\/index.php\/2020\/05\/12\/yara-fertilizer-tanzania-and-kilimo-joint-in-new-collaboration-under-acai-to-bring-new-partners-to-the-project\/","title":{"rendered":"yara fertilizer and kilimo joint in new collaboration under acai to bring new partners to the project"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Two ACAI project partners in Tanzania, YARA Fertilizers and\nKilimo Joint have struck a collaboration that will see them engage secondary\npartners to scale and disseminate AKILIMO agronomy advice tools in the country.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The partnership has been developed after months of\ndiscussion between representatives of the institutions and ACAI team consisting\nof Fredrick Baijukya, ACAI project coordinator for Tanzania and Thompson\nOgunsanmi, the project scaling specialist. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ACAI has adopted as part of the scaling strategy to engage\nsecondary partners affiliated to the project\u2019s primary partnership network.\nThis will play a key role in ensuring fast dissemination and sustainability of\nuse and application of AKILIMO tools beyond the lifespan of the ACAI project. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/acai-project.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Kilimo-Joint-with-Farmers-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1229\"\/><figcaption>Farmers participating in one for the Kilimo Joint training event in Tanzania<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Using a vetting criterion agreed upon between ACAI and all project partners, Kilimo Joint and Yara identified 60 potential new partners for scaling and dissemination of AKILIMO agronomy advice tools. Out of the identified 60, Kilimo Joint indicated they have a working history with at least 20 of them. &nbsp;These newly identified potential partners operate at different segments of the cassava value chain including production, processing, and marketing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The potential secondary partners were selected by looking at their operational capacity in the cassava value chain in the country, trusted farmers in their networks, products and\/or services, distribution channels and the ability to resolve farmers\u2019 bottlenecks like access to inputs, market and credit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ACAI has also integrated these criteria into the scaling\nchecklist then follow up with the secondary partners to confirm their readiness\nto work with YARA and Kilimo joint.
