{"id":1247,"date":"2020-05-16T18:59:03","date_gmt":"2020-05-16T15:59:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/acai-project.org\/?p=1247"},"modified":"2020-05-16T18:59:03","modified_gmt":"2020-05-16T15:59:03","slug":"creating-a-cassava-farmer-database-in-tanzania-for-tailored-advice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/akilimo.org\/index.php\/2020\/05\/16\/creating-a-cassava-farmer-database-in-tanzania-for-tailored-advice\/","title":{"rendered":"creating a cassava farmer database in tanzania for tailored advice"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>ACAI project is partnering with eSOKO, a digital solutions company\noperating in the agricultural sector, to collect data on cassava farmers in\nTanzania and profile them in order to develop and provide them with tailored\ninformation. eSOKO is an agricultural profiling and messaging service provider\nthat empower rural populations and the organizations that work with them\nthrough information dissemination across sub-Saharan Africa. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The profiling of cassava farmers in Tanzania is aimed at\nunderstanding specific farmers\u2019 needs, practices, varying regional seasons and\naccess to necessary resources. This information will be used to customize the\nAKILIMO recommendations sent to the farmers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ACAI and eSOKO are working with Extension Agents (EAs)\nallied to the government extension services and other project partners to\ncollect data using the Insyt web and mobile data collection tool developed by\neSOKO. Using the tool, the EAs are recording farm information, input use\ntrends, gender participation and input supply systems. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ACAI project coordinator in Tanzania says the profiling will\nbe a continuous process to have a large number of farmers in the database and\nhelp organize the cassava value chain systems and processes.
